What is super?

1 minute| Jun 21 2023

Superannuation, or ‘super’, is money that’s put aside while you’re working so you’ll have enough to support your retirement years.

How much you’ll have is affected by things like how long you work, how much goes in, how it grows, how much you spend during retirement and how long you’ll live.

As you’ve probably noticed, there’s lots of super rules like how much can go in, when you can take it out and in what form. These answers depend on things like if you’re working, how old you are, how much super you have and what type of super fund you’re in.
